AstraQua
Location: Los Angeles, CA or Louisville, KY
About the work
Support embedded software, simulation tools and sensor-processing pipelines for AstraQua systems. This internship combines practical Python/C/C++ development with reproducible tests and clear technical documentation.
What you will do
- Build and test Python and C/C++ components for embedded software, sensor-processing pipelines and lightweight ML inference.
- Develop simulation tooling using Python, MATLAB or ROS 2 as appropriate to the project.
- Create data visualizations and debugging tools that help engineers understand signals, model outputs and system behavior.
- Support bare-metal or embedded Linux work, including interfaces, logging and repeatable setup procedures.
- Contribute unit tests, experiment logs and version-controlled documentation for robotics/autonomy testing.
- Work with engineering reviewers to define a small deliverable and communicate blockers, assumptions and measured results.
What you bring
- Strong Python and/or C/C++ skills.
- Skills in embedded systems programming, autonomy or sensor processing.
- Strong skills in bare-metal and embedded Linux programming.
- Curiosity, clear communication and the ability to organize independent work.
Useful additional experience
Git, Linux tooling, signal processing, ROS 2, MATLAB or experience with a documented class, personal or research project.
Initial project to agree
An initial project could be a tested sensor-processing module or simulation tool with a reproducible setup guide, representative input data and a short explanation of its limitations. Scope and review checkpoints will be agreed with the engineering team.
About AstraQua
AstraQua is developing a modular autonomy architecture with AQFM as its shared intelligence foundation. Specialized agents contribute perception, reasoning, health and coordination. AstraSense is the health-intelligence agent, with electrified aviation as an initial research application; it connects condition and remaining capability with mission decisions. Our approach to safe AI emphasizes defined operating boundaries, deterministic safety controls, operator authority and behavior designed for verification and validation.
