Mission Planning & Control

Turn mission intent into coordinated autonomous action.

Turn operator intent into clear mission plans and tasks. We are developing a mission copilot that brings environmental context, system health and remaining capability into planning—so proposed changes come with an explanation and stay within defined authority.

AQFM™: our shared intelligence foundation, in development.

The operational challenge

A mission needs more than a status display.

When plans, asset status, and operator decisions live in separate systems, teams can lose time understanding what changed and deciding what to do next. Changing links, positioning information, and asset capability make that harder.

The AstraQua approach

Keep human intent at the center.

Mission Planning & Control is designed to turn objectives and constraints into proposed plans and tasks. The copilot explains changes for review within defined authority; Fleet Coordination handles allocation across assets. Platform controllers remain responsible for low-level vehicle control.

Capability focus

From mission direction to informed decisions

Development focus. Availability and validation are program-specific.

Mission intent

Define objectives and priorities that guide planning and tasking.

Operating constraints

Define permissions, operating boundaries, intervention rules and deterministic safety controls where applicable as part of the safe AI development approach.

Mission awareness

Bring asset status and mission events into a shared operational picture.

Decision support

Present proposed plans, assumptions and constraints for operator review.

Human oversight

Design approval and intervention pathways around the program’s authority model.

Resilient mission workflows

Use current health evidence and mission constraints to assess replanning, return feasibility and recovery when capability degrades.

How it works

A connected decision workflow

Set intent and constraints. Review mission and asset context. Assess proposed changes. Authorize action within agreed boundaries. Monitor execution and adapt as conditions evolve.

Intended operational value

Better context. More informed action.

  • Clearer alignment between operator intent and machine tasking.
  • Better context for reviewing changing mission conditions.
  • More structured contingency and recovery decisions.

Intended outcomes, not guaranteed results or quantified performance claims.

Resilient Mission Control is part of this solution.

Continuity-oriented planning includes reassignment, recovery options, and reduced-capability workflows. Communications, navigation, fallback behavior, and execution limits depend on the integrated system and its validation.

One intelligence foundation

The role within AQFM

Within the intended AQFM architecture, Perception & Navigation supplies environmental context, while AstraSense contributes condition and remaining capability throughout the mission. Mission Planning & Control uses that context to assess plans and authorized changes; Fleet Coordination connects those plans with assignments across assets.

Questions, answered

What to know

Is this an autopilot?

No. This solution describes mission-level direction, decision support, and oversight. Flight or vehicle control remains dependent on the integrated platform.

Who authorizes consequential actions?

Human authority, permissions, and intervention rules should be explicitly established for each program. AI assistance does not replace the human chain of command.

What happens when communications degrade?

The development focus includes awareness of degraded conditions and support for contingency planning. Available behavior depends on the platform, links, navigation, and approved operating boundaries.

How is this different from Fleet Coordination?

Mission Planning & Control defines what should be achieved, the proposed plan and who may authorize changes. Fleet Coordination determines how tasks are assigned and reassigned across participating assets.

What does the Mission Lab demonstrate?

It provides illustrative simulated mission workflows. A scripted guide or simulated recommendation is not a deployed AI copilot, certified operation or measured field performance.
