The operational challenge

Conditions change faster than a fixed plan.

Mission teams must interpret new observations, asset status, and incomplete information while deciding what still matters. A fragmented operational picture makes it harder to identify change and assess the next step.

The AstraQua approach

Make observations useful for navigation.

Perception & Navigation focuses on detection, tracking, localization and environmental context. These outputs inform route decisions and mission planning; goals, task plans and authorizations belong to Mission Planning & Control. Navigation outputs must be integrated and validated with the platform’s control system.

Capability focus

From sensor data to navigation context

Development focus. Availability and validation are program-specific.

Perception & awareness

Interpret visual and sensor data for object detection, tracking and mission context.

Change awareness

Identify changes that may affect localization, navigation or mission priorities.

Localization & navigation

Provide position and environmental context to inform route decisions within the platform’s operating limits.

Health-informed navigation

Use AstraSense condition and capability context to help assess whether a route remains feasible.

Shared insights

Support context sharing between participating assets when links permit.

Confidence & constraints

Expose observation uncertainty and navigation limits for mission planning and operator review.

How it connects

Observe. Interpret. Localize. Share.

Observe

Gather available visual and sensor observations.

Interpret

Identify objects, changes and observation uncertainty.

Localize

Assess position and navigation context within sensor and platform limits.

Share

Provide context to mission planning and operator review.

Intended operational value

A clearer picture for the next decision.

  • More connected context for mission planning.
  • Better visibility into changes that may affect execution.
  • A structured path from observation to operator-reviewed action.

One intelligence foundation

The role within AQFM

Perception and navigation provide environmental context for our modular architecture. AQFM is the shared foundation in development; AstraSense adds health and remaining capability. Together, these capabilities are intended to help mission reasoning assess what is possible—and what should happen next.

Continue the mission

Awareness informs action.

Mission Planning & Control connects operator objectives with plans and authority. Fleet Coordination distributes work across assets. AstraSense contributes operational self-awareness throughout the mission, so decisions can account for developing damage and changing capability.

Questions, answered

What to know

How does awareness connect to mission planning?

Awareness provides context about the environment and participating systems. Planning uses that context alongside objectives and constraints to assess possible next actions.

Does this guarantee operation without GPS?

No. Navigation and tracking behavior depend on the sensors, platform, environment, and validated integration. The tracking video illustrates a specific demonstration scenario.

Does the software replace the operator?

The intended workflow supports human supervision. Permissions, intervention rules, and authority must be defined for each program.

What can we evaluate for our systems?
